Green Parenting Nurturing Nature, Nurturing Children
MORE >>
Raising awareness to care for and coexist with nature is increasingly important as we face worsening environmental crises. One of the things we can do to grow ecological awareness is by providing education and parenting patterns to foster children's love for their environment. By doing so, we can create an understanding of environmental importance and inspire children to take concrete actions for themselves and their environment. In this session, we will discuss environmentally conscious parenting styles, the availability of children's books that focus on environmental topics, and the government's role in designing education to face the ecological crisis.

Strengthening the Existence of Traditional Cuisine Through Gastronomic Diplomacy
MORE >>
Food plays an important role in bringing people from different cultures together. The act of cooking and sharing delicious meals creates lasting connections as we get a unique insight into someone's passions, heritage, and history. This new soft power can effectively offer a neutral platform for diplomatic engagement, transforming dining tables into places for cultural exchange and understanding.
In this discussion we will explore how individuals are working to bring cultures together through food and the importance of gastronomic diplomacy as a way of preserving ethnocultural identity in the modern world.

Travel Writing as Means of Crossing Cultural Boundaries
MORE >>
Though it is a cliche, people do go traveling to find themselves. The concept of travel includes all sorts of people mobility and migration together with their intentions in the new places. Travel can also be seen as a negotiation between two different geographical spaces and cultures in which one is a very familiar side and the other one is about to be explored, understood, explained, and, sometimes, assimilated.
Travel writing could be considered an act of crossing cultural boundaries because it involves the process of mediation between two sides: representing other peoples' cultures while at the same time acting as an intermediary space where both cultures meet, understand, or generating the space in between. Here in this section we will look at the importance of travel as a core component in influencing our self-identity through personal, spiritual, and cultural experiences.

Sowing Hope: Making Sparks in the Dark
MORE >>
When all hope seems lost, we look for the seeds of hope. There are some, but they tend to be small and scattered. Negative narratives about the future of the world (and humanity) must be balanced with more positive narratives, lest we sink into deep despair. This session discusses how writers and journalists depict and instill hope in this dark situation.

Here's Why Our Urban Areas Need Permaculture
MORE >>
A modern approach to sustainable agriculture, permaculture draws inspiration from traditional gardening practices. Guided by necessity and tradition, it prioritizes resourcefulness, less waste, and a deep relationship to the land. Permaculture is not a new way of living, rather it is a way of living that acknowledge the existence of all organisms and have meaningful connections towards each other through an integrated design.
In a condition where green spaces are restricted and dependence on industrial food systems is high, urban permaculture offers an alternative for people to live sustainably through locally produced food, reduced carbon footprints, and strengthened communities. How do we integrate permaculture design into how we design and build our place to live? What are the challenges and benefits of applying permaculture principles to urban environments? Let's explore this matter in this session.

Book Discussion: Indonesian Students and the International Anti-colonial Movement
MORE >>
A book discussion of Di Balik Bendera Persatuan (Klaas Stutje).
Di Balik Bendera Persatuan by Klaas Stutje tells the story of the struggle of Indonesian students in the Netherlands, such as Mohammad Hatta, Sam Ratu Langie, Achmad Soebardjo, and several other prominent students who were members of Perhimpoenan Indonesia (PI) during the interbellum period (1918-1939), between World War I and II. They took the opportunity to connect with the international anticolonial movement in Zürich, Paris, Berlin and Moscow, meeting famous anticolonial figures such as Jawaharlal Nehru (India) and Messali Hadj (Algeria). The book highlights their involvement in the League Against Imperialism and other global initiatives, showing that the rise of Indonesian nationalism was inspired by the international stage, as revealed through multilingual archives in Europe.

Literature as Commons: Writing for Solidarity
MORE >>
Our lives are becoming increasingly capitalistic in all dimensions. Meanwhile, traditionally, literature has communal roots. How does literature offer 'commons' and thinking about life together? Where do literature/literary actors build a 'cultural barn' based on togetherness, celebration of diversity, a sense of solidarity and a sense of belonging? What form does this 'commons' take? Can it break through the current world of literacy based on neoliberal structures?

Food, Future, and Folklore Balancing Tradition and Nutrition
MORE >>
Today's urban Indonesians have high awareness of the importance of nutritional knowledge. Not only are they aware of the content of food and drinks, but they also understand how these sources of nutrition are obtained, processed, and have a significant social impact on the economic process. In line with this awareness, more and more culinary products, culinary-related content, and food security movements are enriching people's knowledge about nutrition, both in modern and traditional cuisine. In this session, we will explore the combination of traditional and modern food knowledge and practices that promote good nutrition for our bodies. We will learn more about how our culinary practitioners process traditional culinary types that are nutritious, to be presented as culinary products that can be used by today's society to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Also, how do our creators or writers try to present more culinary themes to further enrich people's knowledge about our nation's culinary treasures.

Book Discussion: Towards A Just Energy Transition
MORE >>
A book discussion of Pergulatan Transisi Energi Berkeadilan: Satu Isu Beragam Dilema (Trend Asia).
The world has entered an era of global warming and an intolerable climate crisis. The biggest contributing factor is the energy sector. This means that a clean energy transition is an urgent agenda that we must push together. However, the energy transition is not only about fulfilling global commitments to alleviate the climate crisis and reduce the rise in earth's temperature. Fair values must be present in the process. This is because the energy transition touches multidimensional and cross-sectoral aspects of society. Moreover, there are complexities in energy governance because it is intertwined with power holders and capital owners. The discussion “Towards A Just Energy Transition” is based on an article in the book Struggle for a Just Energy Transition: One Issue with Various Dilemmas will dissect the importance of clean energy transition policies that uphold human rights principles.

The Learning Curve of Innovation and Preservation in Music
MORE >>
Music has the power to go beyond language barriers. It is a universal language that transcends borders and brings together people from different cultures and backgrounds. Music can also serve as a wonderful tool in the preservation and representation of cultural heritage and traditions. It tells the story of our past and serves a reflection of our society and values.
In this information era, digital techniques can substantially reduce the difficulty of preserving cultural heritage so that it may be enjoyed by future generations. However, what the digitalization of music tells us about culture and the power of the information technology sector? Let's deep dive into this topic together with our two prominent speakers in the industry.
